Conference Program
Theme
United Nations Millennium Declaration (2000) recognizes Solidarity as
one of the fundamental values of international relations in
the 21st Century. Within a community or society, in terms of
values, ideas, views, interests and norms, social solidarity
can be understood as a binding force for cooperation of
equal members to work together in order to achieve a common
goal of social development.
Solidarity is also a core principle of religious social
teachings by emphasizing shared responsibilities and
commitments to enable everyone to develop his or her own
potentials and capacities. It is about the respect for and
the promotion of human dignity and rights of each member in
society.
In the context of Vietnam, social solidarity has become the
main driving force for the national development in the
context of globalization and international integration,
because it creates the joint aspirations and forces of
different social strata and communities of the Vietnamese
society. In terms of the multi-cultural and multi-religious
situation, social solidarity has become the source of
strength of many peoples and the decisive factor to
guarantee the sustainable achievement of the Vietnamese
social construction and to safeguard the Homeland of the
Vietnamese people.
In this light, we see the close relationship between social
solidarity and social development. The Conference will have
focus the following subtopics:
1. The relationship between social solidarity and social
development.
2. Social solidarity and social development in the
multi-cultural context (cultural traditions).
3. The role of the state in promoting social solidarity and
social development.
4. Social solidarity, social development and market economy.
5. The role of social organizations in promoting social
solidarity for social development.
6. Global solidarity and sustainable development.
