Conference Program
Theme
In the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (PFUR) the
international research and educational program “The dialog
of civilizations: the East and the West” is being realized
during last two decades. In the framework of this program
the PFUR held around 20 international conferences in Moscow
and 3 in Cairo. During these conferences were scoped
multiple problems of intercivilization dialogue, cultural
identity and globalization, the means of world perception in
the context of civilization interaction, multiculturalism,
globalization and justice, interrelations of Islamic and
western world, the problem of terrorism, the philosophy of
education, the questions of European integration etc. In the
conferences took part the representatives of the leading
universities and research institutes of Russia, the USA, the
Great Britain, Germany, France, Canada, China, Portugal,
Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, Syria, Iran etc.
This international conference "The Interaction of
Cultures and Values: Philosophical Crossroad" continues
researching the traditions in totally new conditions of “the
end of the world as we know it” and declares its main aim as
understanding, discussing and projecting of new mechanisms
of intercivilization communication in the context of
ontological, epistemology, and value foundations of the
dialog of civilizations in the context of the modern crisis
and the future post-crisis world taking into consideration
the crisis of globalization. The main task of the conference
is to provide complex reconsideration of the notion “the
dialog of civilizations” in new conditions on different
conceptual levels: from fundamental (ontological) to
methodological and categorical. With such comprehension the
dialog of civilizations can be substituted by another term
“dialogue of philosophical cultures” which accounts new deep
meanings and possibilities of the recent changes, occurred
over the last decade. Now humanity has unique opportunity to
build solidarity on other foundations, and the most
expressive term for it would be the term “dialogue of
philosophical cultures”. That is possible because nowadays
much more intellectuals, actors of political and civil
society and common citizens clearly see insolvency of the
dominant value system. Alternative models of philosophical,
political and social understanding of the present and
projecting of the future gained more allies not only in the
South, but in the North.
